OUR NEW SCHOOL

We are so happy to share with you the wonderful news that our new Wisdom Primary School opened in time for the new Rwandan school year in 2010. We had been working against the clock since last June, with the help of many people in our community and lots of effort and enthusiasm to construct this brand new school to serve the needs of young children in Musanze.

In January 2010 we were proudly able to open our doors to 220 students who are now receiving nursery and primary education at Wisdom at the two primary school and nursery sites. As well as being able to provide school places for more children, the new school opening means that little ones attending our early development center are no longer obliged to share their space with the bigger children.

Dormitories and a cafeteria enable us to make sure that children who live too far away to come from their homes each day can stay at the school and receive regular meals during the school year. One in every four child is an orphan, many others come from the lowest/no income families, and about 5% of our pupils are HIV+ so need special medical care and attention.

Teaching at our school is conducted in English and so we have been careful to recruit new teaching staff that is already proficient in English. We are also fortunate to receive Anglophone volunteers who can make a great difference by spending time teaching and in informal conversation with our children. If you would like to consider volunteering, please read more about it, by following the link in our sidebar menu to 'Volunteering'.

We wish to thank from our hearts all who donated to our primary school fund during its construction.  We invite you to consider supporting Wisdom Primary and Nursery School this year as well, for we will expand our intake to try and meet the big demand in our area for high quality schooling, so have more classrooms to complete, and desks to buy, as well as additional water tanks and guttering to fit. And the need for basic materials such as books, pencils and paper is forever ongoing.

Here is our Mission Statement: “Wisdom Nursery and Primary School exists to provide a sustainable holistic education geared to academic excellence and producing a balanced individual able to meet the challenges of modern society.”
